Sophos Speech and Academics is seeking a Private Academic Instructor to provide individualized academic support for students in kindergarten through 8th grade across core subject areas including reading, writing, math, and study skills. Instruction is provided in person at assigned locations including the Sophos learning center, partner school campuses, and student homes.

This is an independent contractor position. Contractors may accept or decline student referrals based on availability and area of expertise. Assignments depend on client demand and scheduling compatibility. Hours are not guaranteed.

Service Window
Weekday availability between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM is required in order to be eligible for referrals.

Compensation
$30 to $35 per instructional hour, depending on experience and services provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide one to one or small group academic instruction in K–8 subjects

• Support skill development, homework completion, organization, and academic independence

• Adjust instruction to match student needs and curriculum expectations

• Communicate relevant session information to Sophos administration

• Maintain timely and accurate session documentation

• Travel to assigned service locations including the Sophos center, school campuses, and student homes

• Maintain professional communication with families and staff

• Intervention or remediation experience

Qualifications

• Experience working with K–8 students in an educational or instructional setting

• Strong foundational knowledge across multiple subject areas

• Reliable transportation

• Possession of a valid Arizona IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, or ability to obtain one prior to providing services

• Professional, dependable, and comfortable working with children
